One of the truly great road trips of Australia, the Grand Pacific Drive begins in the Royal National Park. Experience the thrill of driving out over the Pacific Ocean on the Sea Cliff Bridge. Or walk along its length instead. Stop in at some of the many small towns along the way to experience local cuisine, culture and Australian heritage. The more adventurous souls might like to try some hang gliding.
If you’re not in a hurry, spend the night at Wollongong before heading south on the final stage of the Grand Pacific Drive. Take in the Kiama Blowhole and the stunning scenery at Shellharbour and Shoalhaven. The town of Nowra marks the end of the Drive. You can turn around and head back to Sydney the way you’ve just come, head inland to Canberra and then back to Sydney, or continue on around the coast to Melbourne.

Just south of Nowra is Jervis Bay so if you’ve just done the Grand Pacific Drive why not travel on a little further and visit this protected Marine Park. It’s home to a range of marine life as well as dolphins and offers some spectacular views of the southern NSW coastline.
