If you are in the Cairns area you must drop by Rusty’s Markets to visit one of Australia’s most popular markets.

There are over 180 stalls for you to browse, selling all kinds of wonders including clothing, jewellery, exotic fruit and a whole lot more. Located within the CBD, it is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week.

 

Reef Feast Palm Cove

From 5-8 October the Cairns Airport Reef Feast takes place. This event is all about the food – lots of amazing and varied cuisines for you to try.

The event is based in the beautiful Palm Cove village by the Coral Sea and there is a lovely, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy. As well as offering great food, you will find live music, beer awards and a market day!

Tropical Journeys Great Barrier Reef Marathon

If you ever fancied watching outstanding athletes race in one of the most stunning event locations in the world, you get your chance at Port Douglas on Sunday 22 October. Or perhaps you would like to take part in the Great Barrier Reef Marathon yourself?

There is a 10km race, a 5km fun run and a 2.3km Junior Challenge, as well as the half and full marathons. You would struggle to find a more magnificent setting to test your running ability and it is a short distance from Daintree Rainforest to combine with on your visit.

Rugby League World Cup

If you are a big rugby fan then going to the Rugby League World Cup is an opportunity that you won’t want to miss. Between 27 October and 2 December the prestigious Rugby League World Cup will be played at various locations across Australia, including Barlow Park close to Cairns city centre.

The world’s best rugby league teams will be on display including the host nation Australia and their biggest rivals. Having already won the World Cup on ten occasions, the Aussies will be keen to add to their collection on home soil. Cairns will be hosting matches including Ireland v Italy, Scotland v Tonga and Samoa v Scotland. It is not often that the World Cup comes to Australia, so make the most of your chance to see the world’s greatest rugby league players this year in Cairns.
