Group Camping Tours Canberra – Capital Country Holiday Park
Fancy a camping holiday right on the doorstep of Canberra itself? The Capital Country Holiday Park is located just far enough away to provide a genuine camping experience but not so far away it takes several hours of hiking or 4Wdriving to get there.
The park covers 40 acres and offers a range of accommodation from comfortable villas and bungalows to caravan sites, and bush camping tent spots. And as you’d expect of one of the ACT’s most popular holiday camping venues there is plenty to do – swimming, tennis, volleyball and a range of amusement equipment for children.
Group Camping Tours Canberra – Cotter Campground, Casuarina Sands
Head out of town for a group camping tour to the south of Canberra and take in the majesty of the Brindabella Mountains. The Cotter Campground at Casuarina Sands is only 20 minutes away from the city and located on the peaceful banks of the Cotter River.
But if you’re after a true ‘make do with what you bring’ bush camping experience you won’t find it here! Cotter Campground comes complete with all the camping amenities you could wish for. Hot showers, flushing loos, drinkable water, BBQs and you also don’t have to pre-book. Plus there’s plenty to do in the activities department.
Group Camping Tours Canberra - Honeysuckle Campground, Namadgi National Park
Further south again from Cotter Campground is the Namadgi National Park with a number of camping sites that range from comfortable with excellent facilities to just the bare necessities and requiring a hike to get there.
The best camping site for group camping tours from Canberra is the Honeysuckle Campground. It has the same facilities as nearby Orroral Campground but is better set up to cater for groups. Things to do here include fishing, mountain biking, hiking and you’ll also likely come across the odd horse and rider as well.
Group Camping Tours Canberra – Blue Waterholes Campground, Kosciuszko National Park
The Blue Waterholes Campground in the Kosciuszko National Park is not, strictly speaking, in the ACT but a short trip across the border into NSW. This is where the Namadgi National Park becomes the Kosciuszko National Park.
The roads are a bit tough on ordinary vehicles, although it is doable during the dry months if you take care. But it’s well worth the effort because the views are something else! As are the turquoise pools that give the campsite its name. For camping, you can pitch your tent right alongside your vehicle, which is a convenience right there!
Group Camping Tours Canberra
We finish up our round up of places to visit on group camping tours from Canberra with another one just over the border in NSW. This time we head west to the Micalong Creek Reserve at Wee Jasper.
This is a camping ground with a difference though. It has swimming holes, good amenities including hot showers, is dog friendly and has some great walks along the Micalong Creek and to the Micalong Falls. All just an hour and a half drive from Canberra.
